Actera's primary focus is investing in businesses in Turkey. As a secondary theme, we seek to partner with Turkish companies in their investments outside of Turkey. Actera pursues investment opportunities across a wide range of industries, both in established and emerging companies focusing on growth capital and buyout situations. We typically target investing in companies with an enterprise value of over $75 million, although we may consider smaller investments especially in the case of high-growth companies.
We target businesses in which our involvement will enhance value creation. Although we do not seek to be involved in day-to-day operations of our investee companies, we are active shareholders at the board level and provide support to management in key areas such as financing and managing growth, acquisitions and divestitures, strategy development, corporate governance and adoption of international best practices.
We partner with business owners or management teams in order to build value by providing them with the capital and other resources they need to realize their business objectives. As each opportunity has its own unique attributes, our involvement in a business may take different forms. We could provide a company with substantial capital and the necessary skills in order to implement an acquisitive growth strategy in a consolidating industry, back a management team to acquire the business they are currently operating or another company they have identified, or acquire up to 100% of a business, enabling the shareholders to focus their resources on their core areas of operation. Our ability to decide quickly and with the benefit of local insight differentiates us from firms with widespread decision making structures, creating a competitive advantage for our investee companies.
Our goal is to exit from our investments after the value creation targets of the business have been achieved. We typically target holding periods of 4-6 years, however we have the flexibility to extend our holding period depending on the specific requirements of an investment. Our long-term perspective provides for alignment of interest between Actera and other stakeholders of a business. Our management team’s accumulated expertise in realizing value, whether it is through an initial public offering, sale to a strategic investor or by other means, an important part of Actera’s value proposition.
